I hear the pitter-patter of rain on the sidewalk

The sun is a flaming basin
The sky’s as calm as death
The world is in chaos

All around me are the wordless shouts
‘Animals are people too!’
None of it matters in the slightest
I’m as at home as Caesar in Rome

I feel her warmth against me

Her toes wave at me, beckoning me to come closer
I obey

Lost in the chaotic peace of bako-maru

Life is over before it begins
